Breathtaking G Master Quality Right Out to the Image Edges
Two high-precision XA (extreme aspherical) lens elements effectively correct distortion and most types of aberration. This new optical design also employs an ED (extra-low dispersion) glass element to suppress chromatic aberration. And with our original Nano AR Coating II on lens surfaces, internal reflections that can cause flare and ghosting are dramatically reduced.

Fast, Precise, Quiet AF and Tracking for Stills and Movies
The lens’s focus group is driven by our high-thrust XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors and an advanced control algorithm for smooth, responsive focus drive. Noise and vibration are minimised for refined, quiet AF operation that can be a huge advantage when shooting movies. Movie subjects are smoothly captured and tracked even when shooting at 120 fps or other high frame rates.
Intuitive Operation Gets the Creator’s Vision Across
Linear Response MF provides manual focusing response that rivals mechanical lenses, and is more than responsive enough to produce smooth rack focus for movies. An iris lock switch can be locked so that the aperture ring can be fixed at the “A” position to prevent unwanted changes, or manually set from F1.4 to F16. Customisable two focus hold buttons and an AF/MF focus mode switch provide extra shooting versatility.

- Independent Aperture Ring - An aperture ring with a click ON/OFF switch offers direct, hands-on aperture control. An iris lock switch can be locked so that the aperture ring is either fixed at the “A” position, or can be manually set from F1.4 to F16. When unlocked the aperture ring can be seamlessly moved between all settings.
- Dust and Moisture Resistant Design - A dust and moisture resistant design provides extra reliability for outdoor use in challenging conditions.
- Customisable Focus Hold Button and More for Advanced Control - Focus hold buttons and a focus mode switch provide extra shooting versatility. Customisable focus hold buttons in two locations can be assigned other functions from the body menus to match shooting needs. For example, the Focus Magnifier function could be assigned to these buttons so that it is available for quick focus checks while shooting.
- Compatible with 67 mm Filters - This lens accepts standard 67 mm screw-on filters. Thanks to its internal focus system the front element does not rotate while focusing, facilitating the use of circular polarizing filters for landscape photography or variable ND filters for movies. The FE 24mm F1.4 GM and FE 35mm F1.4 GM lenses are also threaded for 67 mm filters, so filters can be shared.
