The Laowa Sunlight FF 2x Anamorphic Zoom Lens set is the world’s first set of 2x anamorphic zoom lenses designed for full-frame sensors.
It features a 2x squeezed anamorphic look and offers a versatile zoom range across two lenses (40-80mm and 70-135mm), with weights of approximately 2.8kg and 2.6kg at 242mm long, making them highly portable for their class.
This reduces crew size and equipment needs compared to traditional 2x anamorphic setups. The series offers a range of focal lengths, allowing adjustments to framing and perspective without frequent lens changes, increasing on-set versatility. Provides various zoom effects (crash zooms, dolly zooms, slow zooms) for creative storytelling.
The 2x squeeze ratio delivers a more pronounced widescreen aspect ratio (typically 2.39:1 or wider when de-squeezed), offering a classic cinematic look with enhanced oval bokeh and stronger flare effects that define anamorphic storytelling, as preferred in Hollywood productions. Compared to 1.33x or 1.5x, which produce milder widescreen ratios (e.g., 1.78:1 or 2.0:1) and subtler distortions, the 2x squeeze provides greater creative control and a more dramatic visual signature, aligning with the Sunlight Series’ goal of bold, expressive cinematography.

At just 2.8kg (40-80mm) and 2.6kg (70-135mm) with a length of 242mm, the Sunlight Series redefines portability in anamorphic zooms. Constant T4.5 Aperture
The constant T4.5 aperture across the zoom range ensures consistent brightness, eliminating light loss during zooms.
