BLKBRD bundle with everything you need to use the Mantis with the Ready Rig. Supports cameras from 5 – 70 lbs* Limited to the max payload of the Ready Rig. (must use the appropriate band for your cameras weight) *8-38 lbs on one Mantis, 16-70 lbs using two in tandem. The Mantis mounting point was standardized around the pin profile at the end of the Ready Rig arms. You’ll need to remove the stock alligator clamps to access this pin. Compatible with the original Ready Rig and Vega Upgrade.
Dual Tube
The Dual Tube configuration is our basic entry level configuration. This system accepts a 6 ft long elastic line and offers excellent stability and booming in a compact package. Perfect for Easy Rig or Ready Rig.
A pair of Dual Tube units can be configured into a single Quad tube with the addition of our “Extra Return Roller” Sold separately. Don’t forget to add some Quad Tube (7′ 9″) elastics to your order.
Maglock Hook Kit
Self locking hook kit for Mantis. Securely attach to your camera to your Mantis. The hook spuds can mount to the side of your camera’s top handle or to the Universal Hook Adapter.
Gimbal Ring Adapters
Adapt a gimbal ring (25mm or 30mm) to our gimbal hooks.
How long does it take to swap elastics?
Elastics can be swapped in about 2 minutes, less once you get the hang of it!
Can I use a Quad Tube with a WK Slingshot?
Yes! You can use any Mantis on a Slingshot, the long tubes were just designed to match the length of the Slingshot arms.
How long do the elastics last?
We’re anticipating 6 months of consistent usage and we recommend changing the elastics yearly. Make sure to inspect your bands often.
Are there different bands for the Easy Rig quick release retrofit kit?
Yes, you’ll see an option when purchasing bands to have them setup for the Easy Rig QR kit. Those bands will come with a factory installed connector that interfaces with the Easy Rig QR kit.
How is the Mantis packaged?
The Mantis will come in a box with a laser cut foam insert and lid foam designed for the Pelican Air 1555. Anything that does not fit in the case i.e. lots of extra elastics will ship separately.
What is the difference between a Dual Tube and a Quad Tube?
The Quad tube takes advantage of a longer amount of elastic giving you increased boom range and a larger sweet spot. It is slightly wider and heavier than the Dual Tube. You can always convert a Quad Tube into a Dual Tube, just make sure to order some 6 ft elastics or you’ll have a lot of extra elastic slack hanging out. You can also convert two Dual Tubes into a single Quad Tube with the purchase of an “Extra return roller” and 8 ft elastics.
NOTICE TO READY RIG USERS
Some Ready Rigs have a variance in the mounting pin diameter. To ensure fit with the Mantis it’s best to measure your pins before ordering to verify they are under 12.6mm. We’ve seen a small handful of pins that are upwards of 12.8mm in diameter.
